Why is my game lagging?
Lag can happen for a variety of reasons and it's important to recognize whether lag is server side or client side in order to troubleshoot.
Client side lag is lag due to an issue on the client (player's) side versus an issue that impacts everyone, some causes for this could be;
- Performance issues related to your PC's hardware
- Poor internet connection
- High latency (ping)
- Not allocating enough RAM to CurseForge (please note you may need more RAM allocated if you are running shaders/resource packs)
- Running shaders/resource packs that are too heavy for your PC
- A large number of entities in one area*
Client side lag will only impact one player, you may notice your game crashing, freezing or your FPS (frames per second) dropping.
Some things you can do to resolve this are;
- Ensuring your PC's drivers are all up to date
- Closing background applications
- Lowering your render distance
- Allocating ~6gb RAM to CurseForge
- Changing any graphics settings from fancy to fast
- Checking your internet connection
- Turning off any shader packs/resource packs, or finding lite versions that better suit your device
===============================================
Server-side lag is typically lag that impacts every player connected to the server (you may struggle to open chests, teleport, have chat delay, etc), normally caused by a sudden spike in the RAM or CPU. Some server side lag will be normal for modpacks like ours as we have several resource-heavy mods such as GA, Alex's Mobs and SWEM.
*We have specified animal caps and restrictions put on mob farms that you can view in (LINK WEBSITE THING). This is also why we have restrictions on building properties near each other to prevent mass amounts of entities all being rendered in at once. It's extremely important that you respect these caps to allow our server to run as optimized as possible - no one wants a laggy server experience and playing your part helps to reduce that.
Note:
- A large number of horses with the Asheerah x MrFear models rendered in at once may cause an FPS drop depending on device and other factors. You may want to spread these horses out if you plan on keeping a significant number.
Contacting Staff About An Issue
You may open a support ticket regarding a modpack or technical issue on our Discord providing you have done some self troubleshooting first to rule out any issues and look for a fix. Before you open a ticket, we ask that all players:
- Restart their PC
- Repair their CurseForge / CurseForge profile
- Check for any outdated drivers or updates
- Redownload the modpack
We cannot provide adequate support for you if you do not trial the above first, a lot of issues can be fixed via these methods. Please note we do not provide support for modpacks that have altered configurations or additional client side mods. We recommend you revert to our default profile if you have any issues.
If you have completed the above, please open a ticket and thoroughly detail your issue(s) along with what specifically causes it if you're aware. If the issue is relating to a crash, please include your most recent crash log in the ticket as well. If you are unsure on how to do any of the above some creators on YouTube offer short tutorials so you can see step by step.
Known “Bugs”
While this list may seem relatively large, we have attempted to compile even small things so players are aware (including minor texture issues). Not all are bugs however have been noted. None of these impact a player's day to day activities on the server.
Right clicking mob capturing tools on "Blanketflower" from Serene Shrubbery may cause mob balls to be cleared from the inventory / loss of mobs in them (including the mob placed on it). Do not place mob balls on them.
Status of bug unknown, not aware of any fix.
Some players may experience an inventory glitch when right clicking baby Genetic Animals to view their UI. This may scramble up or remove items from your inventory, if you have done this accidentally you can right click an adult animal or open a backpack which sometimes fixes it. This issue appears to happen most with cow/cow variants however we ask players are careful with all animals and wait until they have grown.,
Known Bug - Unaware of fix
Some horses (due to the Asheerah x MrFear models) may experience tack issues as they have extra cubes (eg. Spanish nose) which covers up pieces of tack. This isn't necessarily a bug however is worth noting.,
Known Issue - Not a bug
Horses missing leg wrap texture on hind leg, may display as the leg wrap completely missing or partially missing.
Known Bug - Creator unaware of fix
When spawned, horses with a breed set via /clm assign-breed need to receive an update before breeding otherwise it may not register correctly. This can be forcefully done via a member of staff, or our registry pulls horse data every 30 minutes providing the horse is within render.,
Known Bug - Query No Fix
Doggy talents dogs cannot go inside of mob balls and become “stuck” in them
Known Bug - Unaware of fix
