Canterlands uses a custom genetics system with SWEM horses. Foals inherit traits from their dam and sire, and dynamic overlays create coats rather than relying only on fixed community-pack coats.
Is this a downloadable SWEM genetics addon?
The Canterlands Genetics Client is part of the server setup. It is not a standalone genetics mod for other servers or singleplayer. Install the official Canterlands modpack and follow the joining guide to experience it.
Genes, appearance, and testing
A horse's visible coat and its inherited genes are related, but appearance alone should not replace checking available genetic information. Canterlands veterinary services offer genetic testing. See the current veterinary information for procedures and requirements.

Use the horse registry to inspect available genetic and pedigree information. Check coat references and breed standards; a reference coat is not a promise of a particular foal's appearance.
